Often times in our lives there are scenes...events...we observe or hear and they become images in our mind...they become part of The Mind's Eye. Some of these sights and sounds are good and some bad, but all are real.
Here you will find a collection of photos, videos, and recordings from the war in Vietnam. These are not for glorifying war, but a presentation of the truth about the war.
Featured is a story Coming Home - One Marine's Story by Don "Tex" Dorsey. It is an account of one man's struggle in coming home. Don't miss this read!
The Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument™ Executive Committee wishes to thank all that have provided material presented here...all presented with expressed permission or because it resides in the public domain.

The following was received by a Vietnam Veteran of America member. It expresses the feelings of many:
"I was a teenager during the Viet Nam war buildup. I painfully recall the political, religious and moral dilemmas people faced about the situation.
There are so many stories of individuals close to me who faced the challenges and had to choose what to do. But that’s not why I’m writing.
I just want to say thank you to the veterans of that war. I’ve said that through the years to individuals who lived through the horrors of that conflagration, but I just feel led to tell your organization what their sacrifices and heartaches did for an ordinary citizen back home studying and trying to make sense of
it all.
The men and women who served in Viet Nam were, in my opinion, the bravest, noblest and most giving of all of our veterans because they served in an “unpopular” war that at times wasn’t even recognized as a war.
Thank you for serving so that we at home could go on with our lives and bear the next generation."
Sincerely,
Clarice M McKenney, former journalist, PR Specialist, teacher and parent
